Questions drivers ask
What is Almedion?
Almedion connects drivers with scheduled driving work that doesn't run through an app. You apply through us, we check your application and documents, and then the company you'd drive for takes it from there.
Is this an app?
No. Almedion isn't a ride app. The company sets your trips ahead of time, so you're not sitting around waiting for ride requests.
How does the schedule work?
The company sets the trips, and you pick the days you drive. Wide-open availability helps. You cover your own car, insurance and taxes, so driving only a few hours here and there usually isn't worth your time. That's why the company may pass on very limited availability. It's not a knock on you as a driver.
How much does it pay?
It depends on the company and the area. Each job shows its pay before you apply. You get paid every week.
Do I pay anything?
Almedion never charges you. Like any independent driver, you cover your own car, insurance and taxes. The company explains its own costs before you start.
Am I an employee?
No. It's contract work, so you'd drive as a 1099 independent contractor, not an employee. The company goes over the details before you start.
What kind of driving is it?
It's scheduled driving in your own car. The company sets the trips ahead of time, so you're not chasing ride requests in an app. Right now the work is non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT), which means driving people to and from medical appointments.
What driving record do I need?
A clean or nearly clean record. That's what most driving companies ask for. You also need to have had your license for at least 2 years. No professional driving experience needed. Each job lists what it needs, so you can check before you apply.
How soon can I start?
It can be as soon as about a week. Once your documents are in, the company reviews them and reaches out to go over the details. Then you get set up, which includes credentialing, a vehicle inspection and a few checks that take time to come back.
Who sees my information?
Almedion and the company you apply to. That company shares your license and driving record with its insurance to check that you can be covered. We never sell your information, and we never share your phone number for marketing. More in our Privacy Policy.
How do I reach Almedion?
Email contact@almedion.com. We don't have a phone line. Once you're driving, questions about a ride go to the company you drive with. For anything else, email us.
